Taking it to the Street – You and the Law
The most critical weapon investigators should be armed with in their pursuit of the most heinous criminals/felons walking the streets of America …knowledge of the Federal firearms laws. This session provides an overview of the Federal firearms laws and related offenses that are most applicable to street level crime gun recoveries and enforcement. Applicable to both law enforcement officers and prosecutors, the material is presented in an easy to understand, practical to apply, real world manner.

Firearms Identification, Tracing, and Trafficking
IDENTIFICATION – How many times is a recovered firearm not identified as a stolen weapon because it is incorrectly entered into NCIC? This course is designed to provide prosecutors and law enforcement officers with the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to accurately identify firearms based upon markings and firearm characteristics.
TRACING – eTrace is a law enforcement information sharing initiative that provides for the electronic exchange of crime gun incident based data in a secure web-based environment. eTrace is a robust tool providing law enforcement agencies with the ability to electronically submit firearm trace requests, to monitor the progress of traces, to retrieve completed trace results, and to query firearm trace related data in a real-time environment.
TRAFFICKING – Designed to give the law enforcement officer an in-depth look at firearms trafficking, at the conclusion of this session, the law enforcement officer will be able to identify source and market areas, common terminology and key indicators of firearms trafficking.

A Recipe for Successful Suspect Interviewing and Debriefing
This session provides interviewers the skills they need to be successful in any kind of interview. This class is a truly unique combination of various interviewing techniques including kinesics, the Reid Technique, Scientific Content Analysis (minimally), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and more. Blending a combination of these various techniques, the interviewer is afforded the opportunity to develop, and mold an interviewing style that is fluid and complementary to their own personality providing a platform for greater success.

ATF's Violent Crime Impact Team (VCIT) Prosecution and Enforcement Strategies
This panel discussion will provide attendees with an overview of ATF's VCIT Program, and showcase three best practices:
THE ST. LOUIS EXPERIENCE – This presentation will highlight the role of organizations in partnerships, and the success enjoyed when partners collaborate and identify strategies to achieve their mission and goal.
GUN INTERDICTION ON AMERICAN INDIAN RESERVATIONS – Through innovative partnerships between Federal and Native American Law Enforcement agencies the violent crime plaguing America's Native American Reservations is combated.
A COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO VIOLENCE – Through creative and non-traditional strategies the worst of the worst criminals in Albuquerque were targeted apprehended and prosecuted. The result was a marked decrease in street level firearms violence.

Characteristics of Armed Gunmen
The difference between the charges of “carrying a concealed weapon” and “homicide” is about 2 seconds; the time it takes to draw and shoot an illegally carried weapon. This 4-hour course, designed for both prosecutors and law enforcement officers, provides officers with skills and abilities needed to recover crime guns from the street prior to their use in additional crimes of violence. The course includes detailed instruction on identifying characteristics of persons who carry concealed firearms, legal issues concerning stop and frisk and articulating probable cause for searches. Recover more crime guns and increase you personal margin of safety while on the street. This course is taught by Lt. Richard Hobson (ret.), a 22 year veteran of Washington DC 's Metropolitan Police.

The Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Program
The (G.R.E.A.T.) program is a law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum. The program's primary objective is prevention and is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership. G.R.E.A.T. lessons focus on providing life skills to students to help them avoid delinquent behavior and violence to solve problems.
